I build ceramic wall pieces and sculptural vessels by coil, pinch and slab. Stoneware and porcelain are fired in a carbonized atmosphere, either low fire with terra sigillata or high fire with glaze.

Through sensitivity of mark and finding the right balance, I explore form and perceptions of beauty. I want each unique piece to contain and reflect a quiet energy within as well as in the surrounding space, to defy being static. Grouping pieces in relation to one another activates the in-between space.

An inherent part of the ceramic process is dealing with strength and fragility. Questioning and embracing those opposing concepts goes beyond clay work into life in general, reminding me to accept imperfection.
